Matt's "worst nightmare" has returned — at least that was the sentiment of the note Meredith Vieira left in his dressing room Monday morning.
Meredith returned to the anchor chair of TODAY as a guest host, filling in Monday morning while Savannah Guthrie is on maternity leave (and, admittedly, to promote "The Meredith Vieira Show," which premieres in national syndication Monday afternoon).
The morning started out in true Meredith fashion as Matt revealed the note Meredith left for him on his desk (although some minor edits to cut out expletives were necessary). Despite the good-natured jab, Matt said he was "very sentimental" about his former co-anchor's return.
Clearly, as much as things change, the more they stay the same.
Once the teasing (and kicking) ended, the surprises started.
Abe Vigoda, a repeat visitor to TODAY, stopped by 1A.
