It reveals a dramatic increase in conversation, particularly in Texas, where Fort Hood is located. According to social tracking tool Topsy, there were over 200,000 tweets in the U.S. using the terms "Fort Hood" or "#FortHood" yesterday.

On Wednesday afternoon, a gunman identified as Ivan Lopez opened fire on the base using a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol. Four, including Lopez, died in the shooting, and 16 were wounded. According to authorities Lopez, a 34-year-old serviceman, shot himself.
