It was a brisk fall day on the plaza and there were lots of TODAY fans hoping for the chance for an Ambush Makeover, but in the end, only two lucky ladies got the opportunity of a lifetime.
First up was Janet Lawler from Idaho, who was in New York City to celebrate a very special occasion: her 60th birthday! Lawler hoped to welcome in a new decade of a life with a new look, and our Ambush Makeover team was certainly up for the challenge.
She told Martin that as she has gotten older, she's struggled to find a hairstyle that she feels confident in. Well, that was all about to change just in time for the big 6-0 on Friday!
As soon as Lawler walked out, her nieces and sister couldn't contain their excitement.
"Oh, my gosh!" screamed Lawler upon her big reveal. "Wow! That is crazy!"
For the hair, Licari added some beautiful highlights and Maryann Campo gave Lawler a gorgeous haircut with lots of layers and face frame.
With the outfit, Martin styled her in a chic open blazer and classic black skinny jeans that Lawler can mix and match into different looks.
Lawler is ready to celebrate her milestone birthday in style!

Next was Crystal Rowe, 60, from Pennsylvania, who had been begging her sister Patty for years to come out to the plaza with her on a Thursday in hopes of getting an Ambush Makeover. In fact, she had been growing her hair out just for a chance to get a makeover.
Rowe didn't think she stood a chance in this morning's packed crowd, but it turned out she caught Licari and Martin's eye and her dreams were about to come true.
"Oh, my gosh! It's beautiful! You look gorgeous!" exclaimed Patty as soon as her sister walked out.
"Wow!" said Rowe.
Hoda Kotb couldn't get over how fabulous Rowe's hair looked. Campo gave Rowe a stylish bob haircut and Licari colored her hair to a beautiful auburn shade. Rowe looked absolutely radiant with her new 'do!
Martin dressed her in a bold blue dress that will make a statement in any room.
