Although we bid farewell to "The Cosby Show" nearly 20 years ago, we can take comfort in the fact that the Huxtables’ sweaters live on. The latest Tumblr to go viral, The Cosby Sweater Project, highlights the best – and worst – of this favorite TV family’s unforgettable knitwear.

The Cosby Show Project, whose creator has been identified by several blogs as Kelly Tucker, picks out one kooky garment from each episode of the eight-year series. Replete with her own sketches of each garment, the site is now up to series 2, episode 6 with the really good stuff yet to come.

Bill Cosby’s colorful sweaters have become something of a phenomenon in and of themselves. Aside from helping to put designer Koos Van Den Akker on the fashion map, magazines have made “Cosby sweater” a fashion term, as in “Cosby Sweaters Make a Comeback This Fall,” featured in New York Magazine in 2008. One ambitious fan even took it upon himself to declare January 20 “National Cosby Sweater Day,” complete with regular updates on Twitter.

Cosby cashed in on this popularity in 2008, when he put up three sweaters for auction on eBay, with minimum bids set at $5,000, and the proceeds going to the Hello Friend/Ennis William Cosby Foundation, set up in memory of his son, who was murdered in 1997.

Is your dad a Cosby-sweater wearer? Send us your favorite photos of him in a Cosby sweater for our Father’s Day photo gallery.
