Taylor Swift is one of the most powerful names in the world — but it doesn't only belong to the 25-year-old pop star making music history. It's also the name of a 30-year-old photographer who lives in the Seattle area — who happens to be a guy.
Mr. Swift, who like the beloved dame of the same name, has shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes. And he gets quite a bit of fan mail from teenage girls. Except none of it is intended for him.
"I just want you to know that you are my favorite singer," said Swift the dude, quoting a fan letter he received to NBC's Blake McCoy. When asked to sing, Mr. Swift blushed and declined. This fan letter was definitely intended for the other Taylor Swift.
Having one of the hottest celebrity names comes with some perks, Swift said. "I got an invitation to be part of a yacht club, which was kinda fun."
But for the most part, the cons outweigh the pros. For one thing, Swift is having an unusually terrible time having his work discovered. Unlike most people, who at worst turn up on the second or third page of a Google search result, Swift is far deeper in the search.
"I'm still, like, 10,000 pages back on a Google search," Swift said, admitting that on several occasions he's considered changing his name. It's all a bit unfair seeming considering that Mr. Swift had the name first.
Before we go feeling too sorry for Taylor Swift the guy, we can take some comfort in knowing that the mere coincidence of the name is attracting attention his way, and hopefully, and finally, his own identity is shining through.
TODAY.com did an Internet search and found that at least 61 people across the county have the name Taylor Swift, ranging in age from 20 to 60. Come out, come out, wherever you are!
