On Tuesday night, Vedo saw his shot at a "Voice" victory come to an end, but of course there's still hope for other singers. In fact, the former member of Team Usher thinks he knows just who has the edge in the competition now.

"Vocally, I think that Sasha Allen is leading the pack," Vedo said during a Thursday morning visit to TODAY. "I look at Sasha, and I think she's like the new-age Whitney Houston. I know those are some big shoes to fill, but I think that Sasha really has a great shot at this."

Only time will tell if his prediction holds true. As for his own situation, leaving the show was a blow to the R&B singer, but he's keeping it in perspective. After all, he suffered a much bigger blow before the competition kicked off.

As viewers of "The Voice" know, Vedo's mother died shortly after his blind audition.

"I'm OK," he said of how he's handling the loss. "I think her passing actually has been the driving force for me to keep this train moving. ... I'm doing OK, because I know she's OK."

See how Vedo's former fellow contestants are faring when "The Voice" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
