Look out Wal-Mart: Paris Hilton is planning to get into the retailing business.
The partying heiress has been meeting with financial backers, says a source, about opening a chain of retail stores that would feature Paris Hilton products: Paris handbags, Paris perfume and perhaps even a line of Paris clothes.
Another source says that Hilton is also planning to launch a men’s fragrance shortly.
Says the first insider: “Everybody wants to own a piece of Paris.”
Leo’s date for the Oscars
Don’t be surprised if Leonardo DiCaprio’s date for the Academy Awards is his mom, because it sounds like longtime squeeze Gisele Bundchen won’t be there.
The leggy Brazilian, who’s been strutting the catwalk at Sao Paulo Fashion Week, was asked if she would accompany her long-time squeeze to the awards show, where he’s favored by many to pick up an Oscar for his performance in “The Aviator.”
Bundchen didn’t seem too keen on the idea. “What would I do there?” she snapped, according to a source. Quips one insider: “Perhaps she was upset that her tour de force performance in ‘Taxi’ hasn’t been winning awards.”
The source adds that the model nixed rumors that she’s been tapped to be a Bond girl, but insists that the film offers have been rolling in since “Taxi.” Says the source: “She claims that she received other scripts but is not seriously considering being an actress and hasn’t read the offers yet.”
Notes from all over
Good news for those who hold out hope for long-lasting love: Oddsmakers are guessing that the Trump marriage will make it at least until the end of the year. BetWWTS.com has released odds on Donald Trump or his bride, Melania, filing for divorce by Dec. 31, and the offshore gaming company believes it’s a long shot of 4/1 (i.e., win $4 for every $1 bet). The company lists the likelihood of the new couple remaining married as an overwhelming favorite at 1/6 odds (i.e., win $1 for every $6 bet). . . . As the search goes on for the next James Bond, the buzz is that producers are looking for an unknown. One of the names that has come up, says a source, is Rory McCann, who played Crateros in “Alexander.” . . . Al Reynolds, a.k.a. Mr. Star Jones, is donating the aviator sunglasses he wore at the Golden Globes to a charity auction. “The bidding is already furious on these because they are the exact same as the ones Leonardo DiCaprio wore in “The Aviator,” Star Jones Reynolds wrote in an e-mail to fans.
