Nicole Kidman wants to give birth.

“I would love to have a baby next, that would be a lovely thing,” Kidman said on Australian TV recently, according to reports there. Kidman has two adopted children from her marriage to Tom Cruise, but she says she wants some from her own womb. “I have got hormones running through my system. That is why I sit wriggling saying I want to have a baby.”

The “Bewitched” star denied, however, reports that she’s secretly engaged to Steven Bing, the father of Liz Hurley’s son. “No, I’m not,” she said. “I read it the other day and I went, ‘Oh, that’s news to me.’”

Kidman also said she was deeply upset by the indefinite postponement of “Eucalyptus,” in which she was supposed to co-star with Russell Crowe. She said it was “very upsetting ... a huge, huge thing”.

Eye on CBSSome folks at CBS can’t wait for the inside story on their own company.

Insiders at the network have “desperately” been trying to get their hands on an advanced copy of a behind-the-scenes account of the recent 60 Minutes II report on President Bush’s National Guard service, being penned by Mary Mapes, the fired producer on the troubled segment. Mapes recently signed a deal with St. Martin’s Press to write the book, tentatively called “The Other Side of the Story” and scheduled for publication in fall, though a source says the name of the book “will almost definitely change.”

“Mary Mapes hasn’t even handed in the manuscript, and already, people have been trying to get their hands on it,” says a source. “They’re going to pull out all the stops to get a copy.”

Playboy jumps into the craze when its new issue hits newsstands later this month, featuring a desperate housewife on the cover — a real one, not from the TV show. The girlie mag did a nationwide search through more than 1,000 pinup wannabes; 12 will be featured in the May issue. “They all look fabulous,” a Playboy insider told The Scoop, “especially considering they’ve all had children.” One is a 43-year-old mother of a 21-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter.  . . . The London Sun is carrying pics of Michael Douglas looking scruffy and scarred, and it’s claiming his cuts are from plastic surgery. Contacted by the Scoop, his spokesman had no comment.  . . . Lindsay Lohan donated a bunch of her old clothes to a charity for homeless women in L.A., according to In Touch Weekly. “A lot of the ladies couldn’t fit into some of Lindsay’s skimpier party outfits, some of which had never been worn,” a source told the mag. “And some of the see-through clothes won’t keep them very warm.”
