Word that actor Mike Myers and his wife are expecting a second child made the local news this week — and as Conan O'Brien points out, it was reported using the same Austin Powers catchphrase again and again and again.
"Mike Myers says, 'Yeah, baby ...' " said the TV anchors in Every City, USA. O'Brien pieced together 29 clips of newsmen and women reading the same line, and he teed it up by sarcastically noting that "local news found a really unique way to tell the story."
Myers' turn as the shagadelic British spy in the three films, starting with 1997's "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," has spawned a legion of groan-worthy imitators over the years. In fact, the best thing about this coming Halloween is that it's not in 1997. Oh, behave!
A few of the anchors rounded up in the "Conan" video did put in the effort to deliver the line with a bit of gusto. Others just made us want to wish the obligatory "Hollywood Minute!" was more like "Hollywood Way Less Than a Minute."
The 50-year-old Myers and his wife, Kelly Tisdale, married in 2010. They have a son, Spike, born in September 2011.
