Absence makes the heart tattoo grow fainter — or something like that, if you're Melanie Griffith. The actress, who had husband Antonio Banderas' name tattooed inside a heart on her arm, is taking pains to erase some of that ink after the couple announced they were divorcing.
Griffith, in Taormina, Italy, for the 60th Taormina Film Festival, wore a sleeveless dress at a party Tuesday night with "Antonio" conspicuously missing from her arm. No word on whether the tattoo had been permanently zapped or was concealed with thick makeup.
Griffith and Banderas were married for 18 years. They announced on June 6 that they had "thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize" their marriage "in a loving and friendly manner."

Celebrity ink comes and goes just like normal-people ink. Actor Johnny Depp, who dated actress Winona Ryder in the early '90s, had a "Winona forever" tattoo famously converted to "Wino forever." And more recently, actress Megan Fox went to work on removing a large likeness of Marilyn Monroe from her forearm.
Tattoo artist and reality TV star Kat Von D got a large portrait of Jesse James as a kid inked on her rib cage. When the two split, Von D said she was keeping it and had "no regrets."
