Madonna’s urge to adopt another child in Malawi is bothering more than officials in Africa; it’s reportedly also upsetting her husband.

Guy Ritchie and Madonna’s marriage is under a strain because of the Material Girl’s desire to adopt another child, according to reports.

“She drove the whole adoption process on from start to finish and Guy was left trailing in her slipstream just nodding and going along with things,” a source told the U.K. publication, The People. “Guy doesn’t want to go through all the media attention again which he hates. Although he loves little David [Banda, the African boy the couple adopted] as his own, he thinks they should be both concentrating on their own relationship at this time, not adding a new one.”

A nanny recently quit working for the couple, supposedly because she couldn’t stand the tension and because Madonna is a notoriously demanding boss.

Madonna’s increasing devotion to Kabbalah also is said to be putting pressure on the marriage. “Madonna wants Guy to share her beliefs just as strongly,” the source said. “Recently she asked Guy to help set up a Web site which will give advice to fellow followers. But, to put it bluntly, he’s just not interested.”

The singer’s rep didn’t respond with a comment by press time.

Housewife not ‘Desperate’ for big weddingMichael Bolton says he wants to marry Nicollette Sheridan — but don’t look for the crooner and the “Desperate Housewife” star to get hitched style.

“We are now engaged and we have been talking about where the wedding will be as well as when,” Bolton told the London Sun.

“I’m not sure if I’d like something like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding or not. A castle is a pretty bold statement. And we’ve got to think about whether we want 5000 of our closest friends there with us.”

Some took Bolton’s comments as a swipe at the TomKat wedding — a suggestion that there was too much emphasis on spectacle.

“Getting married is the biggest decision you’re ever going to make with your life,” he said. “However, when you’ve lived a little bit, like Nicollette and I have, you realize that the building where the actual ceremony is going to take place is probably the least important element of the whole day. When you agree to get married, the enormous statement is that you want to spend the rest of your life with that person.”

Notes from all overDavid Gest says he’ll appeal the decision to throw out his lawsuit against ex-wife Liza Minnelli, which charged that she beat him up and gave him a disease. “We have strong medical evidence, which the judge overruled,” he said. “I have five witnesses but the judge would not let a jury hear the evidence. So we are appealing and we are going to see her in court.” . . .  Sylvester Stallone didn’t hedge when AintItCoolNews.com asked him what was the worst film he’d ever made. “The worst film I’ve ever made by far,” the “Rocky” star said, “maybe one of the worst films in the entire solar system, including alien productions we’ve never seen… a flatworm could write a better script than ‘STOP! OR MY MOM WILL SHOOT.’” . . . . Beyoncé Knowles says that one of the most important people in her life was her late uncle, who was gay. “I was raised by my uncle who passed away with AIDS a couple of years ago,” the “Dreamgirls” star said, according to WENN. “He was my mother’s best friend. He brought me to school every day. He helped me buy my prom dress. He made my clothes with my mother. He was like my nanny. He was my favorite person in the whole world.” Knowles says that her affection for her uncle didn’t conflict with her deep religious views: “I never mixed Christianity with how I felt (about him). I am about faith and spirituality more so than religion. Doing right by others and not judging.”
