Kylie Jenner, 15, won't confirm that she's dating Jaden Smith, 15—but she wants us to know that she's crazy about him. On Monday, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star posted a sweet birthday message to the After Earth actor on Instagram.
"Although I can't remember exactly when we met, I couldn't be more grateful that we did," Kylie wrote, alongside a photo of herself looking shyly away from Jaden. "You understand me like not many do & you always know the right time to make me laugh."
The young model thanked Jaden for never failing to open the door for her, or "catch me when I attempt to walk." (What does that mean? Does Jaden carry her everywhere? Does she fall down a lot?) She concluded the message by saying, "Happy birthday to my best friend."
It's moments like these when we remember that Kylie and Jaden really are just sweet, goofy teenagers. Kylie's Instagram birthday card is just the kind of thing that any high school sophomore might send her BFF on Facebook.
And yet—because Kylie and Jaden are public figures, that birthday message is wide out in the open, for the entire world to see and scrutinize. We wonder why, exactly, Kylie felt the need to post it on Instagram. Is it because mama Kris Jenner has hammered it into her children's heads that their private lives are public property? Does anything in the Kardashians' lives "count" if millions of people aren't witnessing it? Or is it just that Kylie is a teenager, and sharing your feelings with the whole planet is what teenagers do now?
We wonder—especially since Jaden, who comes from a much more private family, hasn't responded in kind. The only girl mentioned in his recent tweets is Willow Smith, whose new music video dropped this weekend. Then again, Jaden has also said that his father Will Smith is against him having a girlfriend—so even if he and Kylie are a couple, he's probably keeping it on the DL.
One person who is not keeping her relationship with Jaden on the DL is Kris Jenner, who posted her own gushing birthday message to the 15-year-old.
Happy Birthday @officialjaden I love you Jaden!! Have the BEST day ever!! #bestkidever," tweeted the Kardashian matriarch, alongside a photo of herself hugging a reluctant-looking Jaden.
How much would we have given to see Kylie tweet back, "Mooom, stop embarrassing me???"
