Kristin Cavallari's older brother Michael has been found dead after a two-week search.

In a statement to People magazine, the 28-year-old reality star mourned the loss of her 30-year-old brother.

"We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found," Kristin said in the statement. "This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."

Cavallari also posted a heart-wrenching tribute to Michael on Instagram Thursday afternoon.

"My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP," she wrote.

Police had been searching for Michael since Nov. 27, when they discovered his Honda Civic abandoned about 100 feet off Interstate 70 in Utah. Prior to the discovery of Michael's body, Sheriff Steven White of the Grand County Sheriff's Office told TODAY that there appeared to be "no sign of foul play."

Kristin, who'd celebrated the birth of her third child with Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler just four days before Michael's disappearance, appeared to have her brother on her mind Monday, when a childhood beach photo of the siblings was posted to her Instagram feed.

"I appreciate all the concern, thoughts, and prayers that have been extended to me and my family," reads the caption accompanying that image. "We remain hopeful and I will share any news that we receive. I have such gratitude for all those that have shared their support."
