It's been two decades since Janet Jackson took “control” of her life and career, but how much do we really know about Janet?
She's private, shy and unless she has an album to promote, like her new one, “20-years-old,” out September 26, she's not out much.
So, imagine Access Hollywood's surprise when we found out that Janet is just a big kid, who can be refreshingly candid.
An exotic Janet Jackson with very big hair was shakin' it up just for Access on the set of her new music video, “Call On Me.”
“Do you feel is it top heavy at all?” asked Access' Tony Potts, pointing to Janet's hair.
“Yeah it is,” laughed Janet, as she bobbed her head around.
“How long does it take to get that kind of thing going?” Tony wondered.
“A minute! I mean, no, when I say that I mean a little while, a good while,” Janet chuckled.
When Tony hit the set, he witnessed a playful Janet pushing boyfriend and producer Jermaine Dupri and sharing a quick ear caress!
The newly-turned 40-year-old Janet “enjoyed” the four-day video shoot which, incidentally, co-stars Nelly.
She told Tony that she's still just a kid at heart.
“What do you do that's [like] a kid?” Tony asked. “What do you go play? Pinball?”
“GoKarts at Malibu Grand Prix,” Janet laughed. “Yeah, running off the course trying to make the turn too fast.”
“You ever been stopped and an officer looks at you and goes, ‘Oh my god, it's Janet Jackson?’” Tony asked.
“Yes,” she laughed.
“What happened?” Tony asked.
“He let's me go,” Janet laughed. “I shouldn't of said that!”
It's hard to believe it's been 20 years since Janet's smash album, “Control.”
“It's gone by so quickly,” Janet explained. “I was just a baby. I am so different today.”
“How?” Tony asked.
“Not nearly as shy as I used to be I used to be very, very shy,” Janet said. “I was just embarrassed to walk across a room if people were in the room, but I could perform on a stage. Don't ask me why, but I still get like that, like on the set. I ask them to put all the black sites up to pin me in because I can see people watching, and I get really embarrassed.”
“So, that must of been heck trying to date in your 20s, so shy?” Tony said.
“I didn't date,” Janet said. “When I meet the people that I wound up marrying because I have been married of couple of times, they were my friends. We were friends. So I really didn't do that dating thing until I got my last divorce.”
