Fran Drescher's an actress, an activist and an author, and now she's also a newlywed.
On Sept. 7, the former "Nanny" star said "I do" alongside now-husband Shiva Ayyadurai. And on Wednesday, she sat down with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford and shared her love story.
"Deepak Chopra was our cupid," Drescher revealed.
It turns out the popular self-help guru invited the star to a "Sages and Scientists" gathering, where she eventually met the man she'd marry.
While she missed Ayyadurai's speech at the event (due to important spa time, "of course,") she said she "made a beeline right for him" after later hearing him comment about the lack of female scientists in attendance. That meeting soon transitioned into a conversation that lasted until 3 a.m.
Minutes after she headed home to Los Angeles, the man whose name is pronounced "I-adore-eh" ("and there's a 'Dr.' in front of that!") sent her a text telling her how much he missed her. One invitation later, and he was on the road to L.A., too.
There was just one thing standing in their way: another relationship. But that wasn't a problem for long.
"On the car ride from San Diego to L.A., he broke up with his girlfriend," she said.
Drescher new book, "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Inner Strength," is in bookstores now.
