Last year, Oprah Winfrey got the first-ever Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the Emmys. This time, it will be Bill Cosby.

“BILL COSBY, LIKE Hope, has not only made Americans laugh over a long career, but he has also used his stardom to shine a light on strengthening the family values which make our country great,” said Bryce Zabel, head of the TV Academy. “He’s the right man at the right time to receive this year’s award.”

Ray Romano will present the award to Cosby at the Emmy awards show on Sept. 21 in Los Angeles.
