Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken, veterans of the “American Idol” TV talent show, will begin a 30-date arena tour Feb. 24 at the Charlotte (N.C.) Coliseum.

The outing is expected to be officially announced Monday, the same day a third edition of “Idol” begins on Fox. Tickets go on sale Jan. 24.

Another “Idol” veteran, Ruben Studdard, will embark on his own headlining tour this spring. The dates will likely kick off in March or April, according to Jeff Frasco, responsible agent for “Idol”-related tours at Creative Artists Agency.

The debut “American Idol” tour in 2002, featuring the 10 finalists, grossed $8.1 million and drew more than 258,500 fans to 30 shows. The 2003 tour nearly doubled that take, at almost $16 million and 411,000 attendance from 41 shows.

A third “American Idols” tour is planned for this summer, likely to start in July.
