Reality TV kingpin Mark Burnett wants to make somebody’s day, and then some.
The uber-producer behind CBS “Survivor” and NBC’s “The Apprentice” and “The Contender” is developing a new project loosely inspired by the long-running CBS drama series “Touched by an Angel.”
He’s even eyeing “Angel” stars Roma Downey and Della Reese as participants in the show.
“It’s an unscripted show that will be about bringing hope to people,” Burnett said in an interview Friday. “It will be about people in Kansas who have lost their farm and helping get them back on their feet.
“We might profile people under a mountain of medical bills and finding ways to get them out from under it. That’s what we’ll be looking at -- providing hope and changing lives,” he said.
Burnett said he’s planning to shop the idea to prospective network buyers “in the next few weeks.” The show’s working title is “Giving Hope,” Burnett said.
