The New York Post reported Thursday on a jump in sales of rope in the city, and they're pointing to the wild success of "mommy erotica" book "Fifty Shades of Grey" for what one shopkeeper calls a "tenfold" increase in women buyers.
The article (titled "Knotty Secrets," if you needed a reason to pop open the wine this morning) quoted some New York hardware and adult novelty shopkeepers who said they'd seen a run on bondage goods and rope since the publication of the book. "The book broke down a wall," one woman told the paper.
Kathie Lee and Hoda thought something seemed a little fishy about that. Hoda is a big fan of "Fifty Shades," while KLG admitted to going out of her way to avoid it.
"Maybe they're just starting to do more arts and crafts," she said hopefully. Or maybe they're using it for sailing to a remote island where there's no such thing as "mommy erotica."
