Photo booths are usually used to capture humans' funny faces, but one has gone to the dogs — for a very good reason.

The Humane Society of Utah came up with a fun new way to promote the pets they have up for adoption — rather than traditional pictures of the dogs in the shelter, they decided to take photo-booth style shots of the pooches hamming it up for the camera.

The Humane Society of Utah's social media coordinator and photographer Guinnevere Shuster came up with the idea and has been sharing the photos on the organization's Instagram and Facebook page, where the pictures have been getting a lot of attention.

"We just wanted to help bring attention to some of our harder-to-adopt animals," Shuster told TODAY.com. "The pictures help show off their true personalities a bit more."

Shuster said they've seen a noticeable change and there's been a high rate of adoption for the dogs they've posted.

"We've had some where we've posted the pictures at 8 p.m. the night before and the next morning there are four or five families interested," Shuster said.

And yes, even cats can get in on the action from time to time.

"We want to promote adoption across the board, not just here," Shuster said. "If someone in Florida sees these and it inspires them to go out and adopt, then that's great too."
