Bowser the boar tips scale just over 1,000 lbs!

This morning on Rockefeller Plaza, TODAY held its own rowdy country fair!  The hay was spread over concrete to welcome hot-ticket activities such as jumping frog jubilees, butter sculpting, deep-frying and corn shucking.  Although TODAY's Natalie Morales had a streak of luck, winning several competitions, the biggest (quite literally) showstopper of the morning was Bowser, a 1,000 pound boar.Joh

This morning on Rockefeller Plaza, TODAY held its own rowdy country fair!  The hay was spread over concrete to welcome hot-ticket activities such as jumping frog jubilees, butter sculpting, deep-frying and corn shucking.  Although TODAY's Natalie Morales had a streak of luck, winning several competitions, the biggest (quite literally) showstopper of the morning was Bowser, a 1,000 pound boar.

John Harrison is Bowser's proud owner and says that he, surprisingly, only feeds Bowser 5 pounds of food a day.  "I eat more than that!" joked TODAY's Al Roker.  John bought Bowser at 8 months old when he was about 400 pounds after spotting him at a show in Pennsylvania.  Since then, he's grown two to four pounds a day!

Originally, John bought Bowser for breeding but has since started taking him to the state fair every year for display, though he has never been shown competitively.  Boswer's favorite treat is watermelon or cantaloupe.
