Mother's Day is special for all moms, but the occasion seems even more significant for those who've recently welcomed children.
The past 12 months have seen plenty of celebs join the first-time moms club. As we honor our own mothers, let's take a look at the stars who are celebrating the holiday as new parents with their little ones this year.
Blake Lively
Lively, who welcomed daughter James with husband Ryan Reynolds in December, told People shortly after that she's hoping to expand her brood. "I'm looking forward to how one baby influences the other, and to my family as a whole, to every single chapter," she said. "This is the happiest time in my life, and I could say that every day."
Jessica Biel
The actress, who told People that she "definitely" wanted to have kids with Justin Timberlake in 2013, got her wish: The couple welcomed son Silas in April.
Zoe Saldana
Saldana, who had twins with husband Marco Perego in November, told Entertainment Tonight in February that it was difficult to spend time away from them. "I'm attached to those boys; I'm attached to my family," she said. "My husband has been forcing me to go out. Even if we go pick up food, it feels like a road trip. I miss them. I want to go back home. I feel like they need me. ... It's a fun thing. Remember, it's very new for me, so I'm enjoying every minute of it."
Kelly Clarkson
In an interview with People earlier this year, Clarkson called baby River, born last June, the "happiest baby on the planet." "My whole world took a big 180," the singer added. "I never thought I was going to be a mom, so it's very much changed my world in the most awesome way."
Carrie Underwood
Underwood, who welcomed son Isaiah with husband Mike Fisher in March, opened up about becoming a mom during a visit to TODAY in September. "It's still kind of weird, to be honest. Sometimes I'll be with my husband and I'm like, 'I'm going to be a mom. You're going to be a dad. Like, is this real life?' But we're really excited," she told Hoda Kotb. She also noted that she had a strong role model, adding, "I have a wonderful mother, so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think we'll be good."
Eva Mendes
Mendes, who had daughter Esmeralda with Ryan Gosling in September, told Women's Health that she'd warmed up to pulling all-nighters. “I’m actually enjoying the sleepless nights because it’s bonding with my little girl," she said.
Mila Kunis
Kunis opened up about motherhood on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in February, four months after she and fiancé Ashton Kutcher welcomed baby Wyatt. "So, you think you know love … but the truest meaning of unconditional love is my child," she said. "It's such a different aspect of it. It's not that it's greater or lesser; it's just in a whole other field. If she murdered somebody in cold blood, I would love her. I'd be like, 'That's OK.' When she was born, I was like, this is the most incredible thing that's ever happened."
Savannah Guthrie
And it wasn't just Hollywood joining the first-timers club. TODAY's own Guthrie, who gave birth to baby Vale last August, reflected on motherhood a few months later. "It's changed me in every way," she said. "I mean, I have never known a love like the one I have for this little girl. And she makes me want to be a better person."
