It started when Brooke Ochoa held the door open for a woman at a restaurant. It ended with a personal connection and a standing lunch date between the two Texas women.

Ochoa said she met a woman named Delores after they both ended up at the same restaurant last week and she held the door open for her.

“She was very thankful and sweet. She then told the waitress, ‘Table for one,’” Ochoa recounted in a Facebook post that has since gone viral. “So I waited and hesitated but then I walked over and said, ‘I'm eating by myself too would you like to have lunch together?’ She was ecstatic!”

The two women began talking, with Delores sharing her grief from the recent loss of her mother, as well as from an aunt who had moved into a nursing home. She repeatedly smiled and thanked Ochoa for listening.

“Her words healed my heart just as much as I healed her lonely one,” Ochoa said. “By far the best decision I've made all year!!! Her name is Delores, and we will be having lunch every Thursday from now on.”

Ochoa declined to comment further, saying in an email to TODAY.com: “I am not doing any promotions or discussing anything that has any link to me and Delores' story via her wishes and concerns.”

Her Facebook post has since received more than 2 million likes and been shared more than 271,000 times.
