After getting her first taste of Olympic action, teenage U.S. skier Mikaela Shiffrin is ready to make a run at the podium.
Shiffrin, 18, looks to be a strong contender for gold in Friday's slalom event in Sochi after finishing fifth in the giant slalom on Tuesday in her Olympic debut. She spoke with Matt Lauer on TODAY Wednesday about her first Olympic experience, dealing with high expectations, and how she's feeling heading into Friday's event.
"I think people are finally starting to realize that I'm not, like, this little girl,'' Shiffrin said. "They keep saying, 'Oh, she's just young, she'll stop skiing fast,' and I'm like, no way. I'm just getting started."
