LONDON (Reuters) - Britain named Justin Welby on Friday as the new Archbishop of Canterbury, promoting the former oil executive to head of a church divided over the issues of female bishops and same-sex marriage, Prime Minister David Cameron's office said.

Welby, who has been Bishop of Durham for little more than a year, will replace incumbent Rowan Williams as spiritual leader of the world's 80 million Anglicans.
