'It was insane': Kerry Sanders sky-dives live for Hiring our Heroes

Kerry Sanders took the plunge!

The NBC News correspondent jumped out of a plane this morning with the U.S. Army’s parachute team, the Golden Knights. (Rest assured, this isn't even close to the craziest stunt he's pulled.)

"It was insane," Kerry said once he landed safely on the ground. Kerry then thanked Sgt. 1st Class Noah Watts, the active duty U.S. Army member who was his tandem partner.

Why did Kerry jump? NBC News and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation have partnered for Hiring our Heroes, an effort to help veterans and their military spouses find jobs.

And what showcases workplace ability more than jumping out of a plane? It requires coordinating across a team, completing a task quickly and under stress and learning highly technical skills.

Kerry jumped near a job fair at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Hiring our Heroes has also set up a free virtual one for troops and their spouses. Learn about NBC News and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Next Steps for Vets initiative.
