Red, White and Blue Sundae

INGREDIENTS

Homemade Vanilla ice cream

  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 vanilla beans
  • 6 egg yolks

Boil milk, sugar and vanilla bean and pour over yolks slowly while whisking.  Strain, and chill over ice.

Stawberry layer of parfait

  • 1 pint strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Place strawberries and honey in deep container and blenderize with immersion blender. Pour into bottom of the parfait glass.

Blueberry layer of parfait

  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 12 leaves mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Wrap ingredients in double layer of aluminum foil tightly closed and place on edge of charcoal grill for 20 minutes to cook ‘til soft.

Parfait glass assemblyFor the first layer, place fresh strawberry puree on the bottom.  Add a layer of vanilla ice cream and then the blueberry layer on the top. Decorate with American flag and long spoons.
