NBC News Art Director Jeff Clark answered a few questions about creating the book. Here are his answers:

What’s your favorite part about the picture book?

My favorite part about the picture book was being able to create characters out of each person. Being a designer for a network, it’s rare that I get a chance to illustrate characters. This was a great opportunity to get creative and work on something different.

How long did it take to create it?

It took me about a week to create all of the characters, including the environments and the front and back cover.

Which TODAY anchor was hardest to depict – and why?

They were all pretty easy to depict, actually, because they each have individual characteristics that stand out from one another. If they all looked similar, it would have probably been more of a challenge. So I just had fun with it.

What feedback have you received from it?

I’ve received excellent feedback from working on this project. Everyone loved the script that our producer Carol Sullivan wrote. Our editor John Tanzosh also did a great job piecing the spot together to tell the story. It was an all-around successful collaboration, and I enjoyed it.
