We’re giving two thumbs up to the TODAY anchors’ miniature makeovers.
The Italian art director who created these Photoshopped fingers goes by the avatars “il Dito,” meaning “the finger” in Italian, and “Dito Von Tease,” a play on the name of burlesque performer Dita Von Teese.
He started the project three years ago, after using a made-up moniker to hide himself from “real life” on his Facebook page. The 33-year-old’s finger portraits became a metaphor for our digital identities.
“I used this metaphor to say we all try to hide ourselves behind an image of us we create,” Von Tease told TODAY. “That’s my finger: The changing masks everybody wears in playing life!”
“Especially famous people,” he added.
Since first starting the project, the artist has tackled a wide range of pop culture and political subjects, from Mao Tze Tung to KISS. Now Savannah, Al and Natalie have digitized digits of themselves.
