Yesterday, while we were reporting from Rancho Bernardo, in San Diego County, I snapped a few photos. We shot at two locations -- on a street where Jim and Carol Walls' house used to be, and at a firefighter staging area a few minutes away.

Here's a selection of photos:

In the early-morning darkness, Matt reported live

from what used to be the home of Jim and Carol Wall.

We're going to follow theirstory in the coming months.

Matt interviewed Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger at the

staging area to talk about the devastation his state has

faced -- and continues to face.

While we were on the air, we noticed that a fire had

sprung up in the hills behind us. That's our satellite

truck on the left. We weren't in any danger, but it just

proved how fires could pop up anywhere, at any time.

This burned-out car was in the driveway next to the

Jim and Carol Walls' house. Meanwhile, a house just

a few feet away had not been damaged.

A closer look inside the car.
