The perks of being on the TODAY plaza? You might just get a perfume spritz from Justin Bieber.

The teen heartthrob stopped by TODAY to discuss his new ladies' scent, Someday, which features notes of mandarin, pear, wild berries and a base of vanilla and soft musk. When asked by Matt Lauer why he pursued perfume instead of men's cologne, the star pointed to the crowd of screaming female fans:

"This is why," he replied. “I’m more interested in how a female smells than a male.”

Now on sale at Macy's and Sephora, 100 percent of Someday's profits go to charity, including Pencils of Promise, which helps build schools around the world for children in need. "[Pencils of Promise] is doing a campaign called Schools 4 All, and a bunch of schools are donating and getting involved," he explained. "I'm really excited."

And who was the inspiration for the feel-good perfume?

"Umm... different girls, and stuff," the singer coyly said with a grin.
