"Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months," Oscar Wilde once quipped. While such an observation is an exaggeration, there is something to be said about the the kooky, sometimes unflattering styles that make their way into fashion. (We're looking at you, "drop crotch" jeans.)
At New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013, the majority of designers sent interesting, bold and gorgeous outfits down the runway, but there were still a few standout styles that made us scratch our head instead of populate our Pinterest board. And that's the fun of Fashion Week — it keeps such mayhem interesting. Check out a few fun, funny — and downright questionable — outfits from the spring / summer collections:
Plaid it forward: I heart billowy style? Designer Alexandre Herchcovitch seems to really love this roomy plaid style, as seen on Sept. 8.
Pregnant pocket: A short, kangaroo-esque ensemble spotted at the at Hache show.
White-out: This stark jumpsuit from the Asher Levine show seems perfect for a movie villain's army.
Flower power: These models look thrilled to wear Antonio Azzuolo.
Presidential style: Forget pins. Now you can sweep the floor with your favorite candidate, courtesy of the the Katya Leonovich Spring/Summer 2013 collection. But will the company actually produce both dresses to hit the racks next spring?
