The easy slow cooker recipe Jenna Bush Hager loves to make her daughters

This slow cooker chicken and vegetable curry recipe is perfect for exploring new flavors but isn't too spicy for the little ones.

Jenna has a busy schedule—like most moms—so learning to embrace the slow cooker (I’m madly in love with mine) will be a huge help for her on crazy weekdays, as well as relaxing weekends. I wanted to think out of the box so I could introduce Jenna's precious little girls to new tastes and flavor notes. I landed on a curry dish, but I intentionally stuck with mild flavors so I wouldn’t turn off her daughters’ tiny palettes.

I created this for Jenna, but tested it in my house on my own kids as well as younger nieces and nephews and it was a huge hit with my guests—both young and old. Jenna and her kids were also in agreement — phew!

Of course, you should feel free to adjust my recipe to make this your own. For instance, kick up the heat by adding cayenne. Include the peas or not. Swap sweet potatoes for the carrots. Shred the chicken or leave it in bite-size pieces as Jenna did. Enjoy over brown rice or if you want to lighten up calories and carbs, serve it with cauliflower rice. You get the idea.

As for the convenience factor, it doesn’t get any easier than this! Simply toss all ingredients into the slower cooker in the morning, set it for 8 hours on low or four hours on high, and then come home to a deliciously home-cooked meal. Bonus: your kitchen will smell divine.
