Before ‘Thrones,’ Peter Dinklage was master of the mullet

As Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones,” Peter Dinklage is known for his leather-and-tousled-waves look. But a high-school yearbook photo recently posted to Reddit proves the actor once was more of a buttoned-up-shirt-and-mullet man.

The snapshot — taken from the 1987 yearbook of Delbarton School, an all-male Catholic prep school in Morristown, New Jersey — shows the graduating senior sporting a dark fluffy version of the much-maligned hairstyle. (Well, maligned nowadays. It was practically required at the time.)

In our view, Dinklage managed to look pretty cool for an '80s teen. And the accompanying quote couldn’t have been more apt for a would-be actor.

"Words are tools of imagery in motion," reads the classic line from playwright Sam Shepard.

See Dinklage in motion on "Game of Thrones" Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.
