Carrie Underwood's story usually begins with the fact that she's "American Idol's" fourth season winner. But that happened 10 years ago, and she's more than rewritten that ending by now, with Grammy Awards and No. 1 hits aplenty.

On Friday, she started to tell a whole new tale, thanks to the release of her album "Storyteller" and a performance that lit up the TODAY plaza for the Citi Concert Series!

And here's her set list:

She talked to TODAY before performing about being a mom, and how little 8-month-old Isaiah is "growing fast" and "about to be into everything ... fully 100 percent mobile." But he's a "pretty good traveler," even if he does sometimes get bored on the tour bus.

Speaking of touring, she had a bit of news to drop: She'll be hitting the road again in 2016!

"Storyteller" is getting great reviews, but Underwood says she doesn't pay much attention to what critics say. Sweeping her hand at the crowd, she noted, "These are the people I worry about!"

A great attitude, especially since it was such an early morning for her to get up and join us:

But it wasn't too early for her to appreciate the packed crowds who've come out to see her:

Those fans appreciate her right back:

it's worth it to lose a bit of rest to get to see their favorite singer:

Keep your cowboy boots and your dancing shoes on and stay tuned for all the updates as Underwood shares the new chapter in her story!
