Code-crackers helped hungry "Hunger Games" fans satisfy their craving for more content this week when they helped unlock deleted scenes from the blockbuster movie franchise.
It all started Sunday on Facebook's official "Hunger Games" page, which promised an "important message" from the fictitious President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) the following day.
On Monday, Snow's video message led to a binary code that, once translated, identified websites that encouraged fans to tweet the hashtag #UnlockMockingjay. And while it's unclear if fans or the films' distributor, Lionsgate, leaked the deleted scenes, either way, the world got to see at least two sequences that hadn't appeared on the big screen.
Revealed Monday, the first deleted scene shows an intense conversation between Snow and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson).
On Tuesday, the world got to see Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in a new light — or at least in some unconventional makeup. It's hard to disagree with Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) when she remarks to the would-be makeup artists, "Have you even ever met rouge?"
The fourth and final movie installment of "The Hunger Games" series is scheduled for a Nov. 20 release.
