A photo of an Ohio mom breastfeeding her baby during a political rally has gone viral.

Margaret Ellen Bradford of Barberton, Ohio said that she had no idea the photo was being taken while she and daughter Harper were at a Bernie Sanders campaign rally last week in Cleveland.

"While there, she got hungry like babies do, and unbeknownst to me at the time, a reporter took this photo of us," Bradford wrote on Facebook.

After the rally, the Democratic presidential candidate and his wife even "thanked me for doing what mothers do and taking care of my daughter when she needed her mom, even if that meant nursing in public," Bradford said in her Facebook post. TODAY reached out to her for comment, but hasn't yet heard back.

Sanders also referenced the photo on Twitter:

Now moms are applauding both Bradford and Sanders for supporting breastfeeding, and the story has even inspired a hilarious hashtag: #boobsforBernie.

Bradford's post including the photo has been "liked" on Facebook more than 6,000 times, and while most of the comments are positive, the mom said she's also gotten some negative feedback.

"I've cried three times already from some of the hateful messages I've received, telling me that my daughter should be taken, or that I'm just an uneducated lowlife hick," she wrote. "I was starting to lose it and considering taking the picture (down). To know I have so much support keeps me going."
