Are you one of those jetsetters who's on the phone so much that you constantly deplete its battery, or are forever swapping SIM cards to stay connected overseas? This Kickstarter project might be for you. The Talkase is a case for your iPhone that doubles as a simple, straightforward backup phone — or is it a simple, straightforward backup phone that doubles as a case for your iPhone?

The Talkase, which features big physical buttons, will work mostly anywhere in the world. It's about the same size as a credit card. Rather thicker, actually — 5.5 mm, nearly as thick as the iPhone itself, but small enough to go in a coin pocket.

Customers can use the Talkase two ways: The device works as an independent phone with its own number, or you can connect it to your iPhone or Android device via Bluetooth and use it as a wireless headset. It won't save battery life, but it may save you from looking like you're talking to a tablet if you have one of the latest mega-size phones.

Right now you can pick up a Talkase for $35, but when they go to retail they'll cost $69, So if you like the idea, better move fast. Of course, you could also pick up a budget phone from a manufacturer like Nokia, around the same size for the same price -- but it wouldn't be quite as unique.
