KLG on Kris, Bruce Jenner: Did TV empire cause split?

On Tuesday, Bruce and Kris Jenner announced they'd separated after 22 years of marriage. "We are living separately and we are much happier this way," they said in a joint statement. "But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."Kathie Lee, a close friend

On Tuesday, Bruce and Kris Jenner announced they'd separated after 22 years of marriage. "We are living separately and we are much happier this way," they said in a joint statement. "But we will always have much love and respect for each other. Even though we are separated, we will always remain best friends and, as always, our family will remain our number one priority."

Kathie Lee, a close friend of the couple, and godmother to the Jenners' daughters Kylie and Kendall, revealed the news came as no surprise. "I've known this for a long long time," she said Wednesday, of the couple's marital troubles.

"Here's the thing, there has been talk on their show, because on their show they had separate homes, but they made it appear that it was so that Bruce could have his own space," said Hoda.

KLG said that, as the couple stated, they're still very close, even if they have been parting ways for some time.

"Every time I've been out there and seen her, I saw him as well," she said. "When I was with her and the phone rang, it was Bruce calling in. When I went out to do her talk show this past summer, that's when we had the chance to really talk about it. Who says I can't keep secrets?"

Both Kathie Lee and Hoda speculated that the couple may not make a move toward divorce just yet. "I'm hoping for the family's sake that they're gonna be reconciled," said KLG. "They really do love one another."

But the pressure of running the Kardashian media empire may have just been too much for the relationship.

"I think they've just been under such unbelievable pressure, but there's just so many things going on," said KLG. "The last time i was at Kris's house if you walked through her house, in every different room of the house, somebody was meeting with someone about a new deal...If it's always about the deals, and you can't find your husband in your house or your wife in your house, or your kids, because there's so much going on, it's just gotten out of control."

Living in the glare of the reality TV cameras probably didn't help, either. "When you shine such a spotlight on someone's life, and your life becomes 'now we're in season 8, now we're in season 9,' and that's how you're viewing your life..." Hoda mused. "You wonder what part of your life is just yours to live."

"The best thing they have is not stuff," said KLG, of the super successful couple. "The best thing they have is those two girls together, my godchildren, Kendall and Kylie. I'm just worried about them."
