Pageant dad slams 'fat' moms on 'Toddlers & Tiaras' premiere

It's time for a new season of "Toddlers & Tiaras," which means it's also time for some new controversy. The TLC reality series never lacks scenes that get people talking. It's time for a new season of "Toddlers & Tiaras," which means it's also time for some new controversy.

The TLC reality series never lacks scenes that get people talking. In seasons past, questionable costumes, moms behaving badly and at least one cigarette-toting tot vied for viewer outrage. But this time around, it looks like there's a pageant dad who wants in on the action.

In a clip TLC provided exclusively to TODAY.com, JD, father of pageant princess Brooke, gives his take on the "huge" moms he sees all around him at his daughter's events.

"I don't like judging people by any means," JD says before before doing that very thing. "But you just see a lot of people … man, they just barely fit in their clothes. I mean, I'm seeing women walk around, frickin' love handles sticking out their shirt."

Mean? Sure, but JD, whose bulging biceps prove his love of fitness, feels that the women are judging him too.

"I'm just thinking, 'Man, you know they're staring at me, judging me,'" he explains as a scene shows him doing pushups stage-side while decked out in a shimmer shirt and oversized afro wig. "It's like, 'What are you teaching your daughter when you're walking around huge like that and out of shape?'"

Finally, while on a roll, JD flexes his massive, veiny muscles and announces, "This is for all the fat pageant moms that are overweight, eating cupcakes."

OK then. Team Cupcakes.

The new season of "Toddlers & Tiaras" kicks off Wednesday at 9 p.m. on TLC.
