Thanks to British street artist and political activist Banksy, "The Simpsons" classic couch-hopping intro abandoned the usual quick laughs and took an extended, dark twist Sunday night.

Following a few not-so-subtle nods to Banksy's influence in the piece, including his name tagged on various pieces of Springfield property, the opening sequence really began where it usually ends.

Once Homer and his family hit the sofa, the animated scene panned out to reveal the grueling conditions of sweatshop workers painting endless "Simpsons" cells, creating branded merchandise and abusing one poor unicorn.
