Seth Meyers sat down with our very own Savannah Guthrie Monday night and asked her about a big story she cracked last week.
"Congratulations, because you got to the bottom of 'Almond-gate!'" he told her.
A quick note for those who aren't up to date on the finer points of presidential snacking.
In her sit-down with President Obama on TODAY last week, Guthrie asked the commander in chief to confirm a curious detail that was reported in a July New York Times feature about how he spends his evenings.
"The anecdote was that he eats exactly seven almonds for a late-night snack, which I just thought was one of the funniest things I'd ever read," Guthrie told Meyers. "I'm like, 'I have seven Snickers bars — how about that?'"

Alas, Obama informed her that the nutty tale was just a joke.
"He got to tell you he's not as anal as people thought he was," Meyers said.
"By the way, he said that word," Savannah grinned back.
Yes, that word.
Obama: I don't really eat 7 almonds a night; I was kidding!
July 28, 201602:06In fact, what POTUS said was, "All my friends were calling me up and saying, this seems a little anal, this is a little weird."
"And my inner dialog was like, 'Did you just say ...?" she explained. "If I were to read the transcripts of every president, do you think that word has ever appeared?"

She then added with a laugh, "So, you know, we all have our career highlights."
