Author Candace Bushnell has split from the popular Carrie Bradshaw of her "Sex and the City" books and movies and found a new group of lovers for her first of two new novels, her publisher said on Thursday.
The first, titled "The Two Mrs. Stones," revolves around the principal character's engagement in a triangle of lovers, said a spokeswoman for Grand Central Publishing.
It departs from Bushnell's last novel that centered on Bradshaw, the spokeswoman said.
"The Two Mrs. Stones" is expected to hit bookshelves in 2012, but the publisher, which is owned by Lagardere's Hachette Book Group, would not disclose any other details.
Bushnell's "Sex and the City," about writer Bradshaw and her three single friends looking for love in New York City, first began as a series of columns before they were published as an anthology in 1997.
Her stories went on to become fodder for a hit HBO television series of the same name that played on TV networks worldwide and spawned two major movies.
Sarah Jessica Parker played Bradshaw, and her three best friends were portrayed by Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
Bushnell's other books have included "Lipstick Jungle" published in 2005 and her last title, "The Carrie Diaries," a coming-of-age story about Bradshaw during her last year in high school and her journey to New York.
It was published in April.
