Sarah Ferguson is ‘totally broke’

“Her desperation led to the lack of judgment,” a source told Us Weekly.  What led to her financial situation? She never really made the transition from being a royal to being a civilian.

Sarah Ferguson will sit down and explain to Oprah Winfrey just what was going through her head when she was caught trying to sell access to ex-husband Prince Andrew, but in the meantime, sources close to the Duchess of York are the ones doing the talking.

“She’s totally broke,” one source told Us Weekly. “Her desperation led to the lack of judgment.”

What led to her financial situation? She never really made the transition from being a royal to being a civilian, according to the magazine.

“She’s a shopaholic, obsessed with designers like Chanel and Hermès,” the source told Us. “She didn’t know how to stop spending like a royal.”

Or living like one, apparently. Two days before the scandal broke on May 23, she was spotted sipping champagne on a yacht during France’s Cannes Film Festival, according to Us.

Ferguson is anxious to get the scandal behind her. “Sarah is mortified. She wants to get away from the negativity, she wants to start fresh in America,” said the source.

Cavallari’s ‘Hills’ romances were fakeKristin Cavallari of “The Hills” is reaching the end of her contract with the show, and when it’s done, she plans to write a tell-all book about what the experience was really like, Cavallari told In Touch.

She’s begun the book, and according to an insider with knowledge of it, she’ll dish on her love life and the home they lived in. The insider told In Touch that Cavallari’s relationships with NFL star Mark Sanchez and Justin “Bobby” Brescia were “created by producers.”

“Mark didn’t want anything to do with it, but they planned for him to be Kristin’s new boyfriend,” said the insider. As for Brescia, he was only “a new plot twist. They never dated — it was like playing a part in a movie,” the source told In Touch.

As for the Malibu house that Cavallari supposedly lived in: “She and her friends weren’t even allowed to sleep there,” said the insider.

Weekend box office This is one weekend where hype will translate into box-office receipts. The much-anticipated “Sex and the City 2” is going to come in at No. 1 over the long holiday weekend. There’s good early indication that film is well on its way: The midnight Thursday screening grossed $3 million alone. That’s 20 percent better than the original film’s opening weekend midnight screening, which made $2.5 million. Sure, “SATC2” has received some bad reviews, but the final box office take from a four-day weekend in 3,445 theaters will overshadow the critics’ harsh words.

Also this weekend is “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” otherwise known as “that movie with Jake Gyllenhaal and his abs.” All kidding aside, it’s the only new wide-release counterprogramming option in theaters this weekend (it’s playing on more than 3,500 screens) and should do well. But if it comes down to four ladies versus one set of abs, I’m going with girl power.
