If you don't know "Miranda Sings," you'll learn very soon. She's the YouTube songstress with a grimace of gold and unshakable confidence who's taking her web series to the big screen. Well — bigger screen.
Colleen Ballinger, the character's creator, is breaking boundaries by becoming the first YouTube personality to get her own scripted show on Netflix. Called "Haters Back Off," the series imagines the popular character's life away from the web-cam.
With over 6 million subscribers and nearly 2 billion video views, it would seem like a well-planned empire but Ballinger said it all started as a joke.

"I thought it was so weird that people would just sit in their bedroom and film themselves and then upload it online for everyone to see," she told TODAY's Sheinelle Jones.
Since then Ballinger has shared almost everything with the fans who made her dreams come true, including her recent divorce.

"I love sharing my life with them and it feels like a family," Ballinger said.
And they love her right back. The trailer alone for "Haters Back Off" has been viewed over 1 million times since it was released just last week.
