LeAnn Rimes has admitted the recent tabloid attention on her life has been tough to handle.

After being asked about Jessica Simpson’s weight being documented by the supermarket glossies during an interview for Shape magazine’s July 2009 issue, alongside “Dancing With the Stars” professional Julianne Hough and country singer Martina McBride, Rimes revealed how she struggles to stay positive under the media’s glare.

“I’ve been in the tabloids recently too, and it’s been really hard for me,” Rimes said, referring to reports she engaged in an extra-marital affair with her Lifetime movie co-star Eddie Cibrian, a claim they have both denied. “I’ve been in the public eye since I was 14, so I have a tough skin. It’s fine dragging me through the mud, but don’t drag my loved ones through it. They’re my family, and it hurts them. All I’ll say is, I know what’s in my heart and what’s true.”

Rimes said the faith people put in the tabloid media is also tough to stomach.

“What gets me is that people believe everything they read,” she said.

And some days, she revealed, stepping out in public comes with a price.

“It’s the weirdest thing possible to go through,” she said. “I feel like people are looking and pointing at me like I’m in a fishbowl. I’ve learned to let it roll off my back, but it’s superhard, and it really hurts.”
