Er...OK. Guess that's just 14 stars who could be president, then.

George Clooney took himself out the running of any future political campaigns while chatting with Newsweek, saying that while the left-leaning celeb with the penchant for activism certainly seems destined to be the next star-turned elected official ( apologies to Alec Baldwin), that, quite frankly, won't be happening.

Which is too bad, since Clooney has already come up with a barn-burner of a campaign slogan for himself: "I drank the bong water." Well, it'd probably fly in the blue states.

Unlike, perhaps, the rest of his platform...

Turns out, Clooney has one fatal flaw that would prevent him from ever truly succeeding in politics: he's just too honest.

But don't take our word for it. Take his response when asked whether he would ever make good on future political ambitions:

"I didn't live my life the right way for politics, you know," he told the mag. "I f--ked too many chicks and did too many drugs, and that's the truth."

Points for candor, at least.

However, that kind of admission is exactly what Clooney wants in a politician, saying a truly smart campaigner "would start from the beginning by saying, 'I did it all. I drank the bong water. Now let's talk about the issues.' "

So maybe he's just laying some groundwork, after all? Eh, maybe not. But a constituency can dream, can't it?
