Dick Van Patten died on Tuesday at the age of 86, and when the news broke, friends, co-stars and fans took to social media to share their fond memories of the beloved TV dad.
Van Patten, perhaps best known for his role as family patriarch Tom Bradford on the '70s sitcom "Eight is Enough," was remembered by cast mates after the news of his death.
"He knew when to laugh, and Dick always had us laughing," said Willie Aames, who played Van Patten's son on the series. "He was just a very wonderful, sincere man."
Betty Buckley, who played Van Patten's wife Abby Bradford on "Eight is Enough," took to Twitter to say she was "heartsick" to hear of his passing.
Other friends and fans also took to social media to remember the late actor.
