“Desperate Housewives” co-star James Denton, who plays a sexy plumber on the ABC show, attracted a crowd when he spoke at his nephew’s eighth-grade graduation.
Denton showed up at Poplar Grove School in suburban Nashville on Monday wearing a blue flannel shirt and jeans to give his four-minute speech to nearly 100 students being promoted to high school.
“My only words are to find something you love to do and chase it and enjoy it. Do what you love to do and believe in yourself,” said Denton, a native of the Nashville suburb of Goodlettsville.
“Maybe you can wear jeans for a living and make out with Teri Hatcher,” Denton quipped about his role as Mike Delfino on the comedy series.
Paige Massey, who graduated along with Denton’s nephew Keb Doak, said she thought the crowd was a lot larger than in years past because Denton was giving a speech.
“He’s probably the reason my entire family came,” she said. “It was kind of neat having him speak to us because usually the speaker is someone most people haven’t heard of.”
The school screened the audience to limit the crowd to those who were there to support students in the class.
