Something must have been in the air during 2014; the year that's just about to wrap up had a bumper crop of A-list weddings — some that were a little more private than others. Here's a look back at some of the big names who tied the knot, sent with our best wishes for their happily ever afters!
George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin
The Oscar-winning actor and the international human rights lawyer's September wedding in Venice made headlines around the world, and was an object lesson in how to amp up the glam without veering into tacky. This was Hollywood, old-style.
Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt
Somehow, two of Hollywood's biggest A-listers managed to have a secret, private wedding in France in August. Jolie's gown, which was embroidered with drawings made by their six children, also made headlines.
Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard; Jessa Duggar, Ben Seewald
Two members of the enormous brood from "19 Kids and Counting" shared their happy days (and happy kisses) on Instagram (Jill married in June, Jessa in November). But Jessa's smooch with Ben proved a little hotter than many fans might have expected.
Gabrielle Union, Dwayne Wade
The "Being Mary Jane" actress and the Miami Heat shooting guard married in August in Miami, with John Legend performing at the intimate ceremony.
Kaley Cuoco, Ryan Sweeting
The "Big Bang Theory" star rang in 2014 in style, marrying tennis pro beau Sweeting in a New Year's Eve ceremony in Southern California.
Lauren Conrad, William Tell
Former "Hills" star Conrad united with lawyer and singer-songwriter Tell in a small ceremony before close friends and family on the California coast in September. The pair met on Valentine's Day 2012, paired up by pals as a blind date.
Katie Couric, John Molner
Newswoman Couric wed investment executive Molner in June in the back yard of her home in East Hampton, New York. It was a laid-back affair for Couric, whose first husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998.
Melissa Etheridge, Linda Wallem
The "Come to My Window" singer married her girlfriend of four years, producer Linda Wallem (creator of "Nurse Jackie"), outdoors at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, in May.
Jenny McCarthy, Donnie Wahlberg
The former "View" co-host and Wahlberg ("Blue Bloods") got hitched in August outside McCarthy's hometown of Chicago in the historic Hotel Baker. The bride wore a gown she chose from Bergdorf Goodman, People reported.
Jodie Foster, Alexandra Hedison
The Oscar-winning Foster tied the knot with her girlfriend, photographer/actress Alexandra Hedison, over Easter weekend. The intensely-private Foster has not discussed her sexuality in public, but made headlines in 2013 during a Golden Globes lifetime achievement acceptance speech in which she danced around the subject.
Kelly Rowland and Tim Witherspoon
"Kisses Down Low" singer Rowland wed manager Witherspoon in May in Costa Rica in what was called a "quick, simple ceremony" by Us Weekly. On hand were fellow Destiny's Child bandmate Beyoncé and her sister, Solange.
Sara Gilbert, Linda Perry
"The Talk" co-host and former "Roseanne" star married singer/songwriter Linda Perry in March at the One Gun Ranch in Malibu, California. The menu was strictly vegan. In September, Gilbert announced the couple is expecting a baby.
Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner
The actress/comedian married longtime partner Jane Wagner on New Year's Eve in a private ceremony in Los Angeles. The pair met in 1971 when they collaborated on Tomlin's comedy album "This Is a Recording," which went on to win the Grammy Award the following year.
Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas
Snow White found her Prince Charming in real life, when "Once Upon a Time" actors Goodwin and Dallas (who play those roles on the show) tied the knot in April in front of close friends and family at a sunset ceremony in Los Angeles. They welcomed a baby boy in May.
Stacy Keibler and Jared Pobre
Take that, George Clooney! Keibler, who famously dated the Oscar winner, got married to tech entrepeneur Pobre just a few months before Clooney did, in a surprise March wedding in Punta Mita, Mexico. Keibler and her family were already en route to a group vacation when the couple admitted it was actually a nuptial jaunt. Their baby girl was born in August.
Leighton Meester and Adam Brody
The actors, who met on the set of 2011's "The Oranges," wed in secret in February following a three-month engagement. Details still remain under wraps, but reports say they held the ceremony in Southern California.
Elton John and David Furnish
The musician and the filmmaker, who were civilly committed in 2005, held a star-packed wedding outside London just before Christmas and posted a plethora of images of both ceremony and party on their Instagram accounts.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
The reality star and the rapper staged their own fairytale wedding in Florence, Italy, in May. The pair said their "I do's" at the Forte di Belvedere with around 200 guests, $100,000 worth of flowers, and singer Andrea Bocelli.
